The Rainbow nation are OUT

Bafana-Bafana are officially out of the World Cup despite beating France 2-1. They have become the first host nation to get knocked out in this stage which at least means that the vuvuzelas will be a little subdued for a while, (hopefully for the rest of the tournament). They probably didn't deserve to go though but at least they beat Franc on the way. France have now finished last in Group A. It almost makes you glad to be English. However what we will miss from the South Africa team are the names. Here are some gems:
Suprise Moriri (Mamelodi Sundowns)
Siphiwe Tshabalala (Kaizer Chiefs)
Reneilwe Letsholonyane (Kaizer Chiefs).
Pure class.

Les Bleus are also out which is one of the funniest cock-ups in World Cup history. First you have Anelka going home then the players refusing to train and a crazy coach who is now leaving France as one of the most hated men alive.

11 days and we look rubbish

The hype, the glory the expectations, the crap songs and the World Cup is well and truly underway. England have yet again been sh*t, Brazil have yet again been excellent and yet again there have been upsets leaving teary eyed ITV commentators commenting about the 'olden days'. The French have yet again been mutinous, the Germans have been, well, German and normal life will soon be resumed. It looks like Brazil will win the competition as predicted, Maradona will reveal his true identity as a martian and Capello will resign in 6 days or so.

Goal of the tournament (so far): David Villa vs Honduras: A brilliant goal, he dribbles past three players and thrashes it into the net.
The worst commentry mistake: A Serbian broadcasting station has said that the German 'would be' goalkeeper, Robert Enke who commited suicide is 'injured'. Shocking.
Controversial decision: The ball, the World against Engand etc.
Player of the tournament: Vincent Enyema (Nigerian goalkeeper) apart from one mistake has been excellent for Nigeria in two games.

The World Cup

The World Cup with all it's hype and glory is here and it won't come again for another few years (thank God). Anyway, here are my predictions fr the World Cup. After about ten minutes of furious pencil scribbling I came up with the predictions for the World Cup:
1st: Brazil, Odds to win: 4/1
2nd: Spain, Odds to reach the final: 2/1
3rd: England (Yep, I know that I'm an optimist): Odds to reach the semi-finals: 5/4
4th: Serbia (Blatant dark horses): Odds to reach the semi-finals: 15/2
Top goalscorer: Luis Fabiano (Brazil) Odds: 12/1
Most Assists: Xavi (Spain)
To win 'best player' award: Lionel Messi
Hi, I'm Nick and I love football.
I hope to write regular posts (about 1 every two days) and over the next few years (hopefully)
I hope to amuse and annoy you with my stupid predictions.
Thanks
